When I say colorful city Mumbai, I know residents of Mumbai know what I mean, other metro city people might have reasons to compare with their city. Every place is beautiful in its own way, but Mumbai has different color where people with much difference in every aspect can be seen.  I have strong points which I have jotted down with images which prove Mumbai to be colorful in its terms. The city is well known for its rich history. It is truly a place to visit at least once in a life, a place where everyone can find something related to their interests which make the city favorite to them. 1.Gateway Of India

 

A symbolic landmark in the entire country ‘Gateway Of India’ is located in the southern part of the city. It was built by George Wittet. The structure has been built in yellow basalt stone, noticeable archway which is 26 meters high. The monument speaks volumes about the political history of the country.

2.  Elephanta Caves

 

The artistic caves located on Elephanta Island consists of groups of two caves, first is a large group of five Hindu caves, a second group of two Buddhist caves.The three headed Shiva sculpture called Maheshmurti is the main attraction.

3. Juhu Beach

 

Juhu beach is one of the most famous Indian beaches. It is located approximately 18 Km from the city center. The attractive location was chosen by filmmakers.

4. Victoria Terminus

 

Victoria Terminus also is known as Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus in honor of Chhatrapati Shivaji. Even it is considered to be an important landmark of Mumbai.

5. Colaba Causeway

 

The street side shopping destination for most of the people. The market offers cheap clothes, fashionable boutiques, and even good food.

6. Film City

 

An integrated film studio complex consisting of several recording rooms, gardens, lakes, theaters and grounds. It is spread over 5.20 acres. Main highlights of the film city are really beautiful sets.

7. Haji Ali

 

It is one of the most prestigious oldest Islamic symbols situated in South Mumbai. A white-washed structure is spread over an area of 4500 meters, flanked by marble pillars. It is believed that Haji Ali has miraculous power who ever prays here gets his wish fulfilled.

8. Dharavi Slum

 

Asia’s largest slum, home to more than million people. I must say even it is a place to be visited, you can see people living happily without luxury. A place where you can learn lot from other’s experiences.

9. Marine Drive

 

3 Km long, six lanes concrete road forming a natural bay. It is situated at the foot of Malabar hill. The setting sun here attracts a lot many people.

10. Bangana Tank

 

It is a holy tank located in the complex of Walkeshwar temple in Malabar Hills. It is a preeminent tourist attraction in Mumbai. It is believed that water of the tank has healing power.

11. Mahalaxmi Dhobi Ghat

 

World’s largest outdoor laundry the Mahalaxmi Dhobi Ghat is 140 years old, providing wonderful service like collecting dirty laundry and handing them neatly. Around 200 dhobi families work together here. Travelers actually make sure that they visit Dhobi Ghat on their trip to Mumbai.

12. Prince of Wales museum

 

One of the premier art and history museums in India Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya known as Prince of Wales museum is the best example of Indo- Saracenic style of architecture. The museum contains 2000 rare paintings from several art schools in India. There is another interesting section in the museum that includes a collection of reptiles, mammals, birds, fishes etc.

13. Kanheri Caves

 

More than 100 Buddhist caves popularly known as Kanheri Caves. Kanheri, was also known as Kanhagiri means black mountain.The caves are also said to be lungs of Mumbai.

14. Rajabhai Clock Tower

 

It is a famous clock tower located in South Mumbai standing in Mumbai University Fort Campus next to High Court. It has also been included to one of the major tourist destination in Mumbai.

15. Aksha Beach

 

It is always listed on the top for vacation. Dotted with private colleges and hotels, the beach is always flooded with people to watch sunrise and sunset.

16. Powai Lake

 

The artificial lake Powai is located in the Powai village which was named after Framaji Kavasji Powai in the city with a calm and soothing ambiance. It is surrounded by various luxurious hotel and housing complexes.

17. Jehangir Gallery

 

It is an art gallery founded by Sir Cowasji Jahangir in 1952. The gallery is situated at Kala Ghoda, behind the Prince of Wales Museum with four exhibition halls. The gallery is also home to Samovar cafe.

18. Khotachiwadi

 

It is a heritage village in Girgaon, Mumbai founded in the late 18th century. The village has been famous for its pristine beach Chowpathy. Houses in portugese style makes the place more interesting.

19. Worli Seaface

 

Worli Seaface is a posh area in the South Mumbai with a non-ending blue water of Arabian Sea and distant view of Haji Ali Dargah. It also features a number of significant attractions like Worli Fort, Haji Ali, Dargah and Bandra-Worli Sea link.

20. Global Vipassana Pagoda

 

The Global Vipassana Pagoda is a meditation hall near Gorai. It is built on donated land on Peninsula between Gorai creek and Arabian Sea to honour Buddha. Main attractions of this complex are carved Myanmar gate, giant Marble statue of Buddha, Bell tower and its mirror image.
