A lot of people hold the common belief that iMessage is primarily a messaging application and nothing more. However, Apple has introduced a number of different features within the iMessage app, bringing it on par with WhatsApp and other top of the line messaging apps that are currently available in the market. The good thing about using iMessage is that for people who don’t have a smart phone associated with it and are using an iPad or an iPod Touch, this app is a great option to use. All you have to do is to associate your iMessage app with your email address in order to get started. Did you know that you can also share your location with others using the iMessage app?

Yes you can, and here’s how to do it:

First off, open the ‘Maps’ icon from your Home Screen and then tap on the small location arrow that is placed on the bottom left side of your screen. This location arrow is required to search and find your current location. Once your current location becomes clear, it will be denoted by a blue dot. Tap on it and your address will be shown as well. The small blue arrow that is located on the right side of the pin will provide you with the exact details that the maps app is capable of finding.

On this screen, you will be to see a number of options. For instance, you can search for directions from your current address, or you can search for directions to your current address. Then, there’s the option of adding the address to one of your contacts, so that you can easily find directions to ‘their place’ as well. You can also bookmark the address. However, the thing we are concerned with is ‘Share Location’. Tap on it, and you will be able to see the options by which the location can be shared. Choose iMessage.

Then, you must choose the contact with which you wish to share your location, and send it! The contact won’t receive the directions in a textual manner, but instead will be able to tap on it and go directly into their Maps application and view the direction, and use it for future references. The process is quite easy and very simple, and makes location sharing a real breeze for most people.
