What do you use our good old Vicks VapoRub for? You might think, of course for getting relief from headache, congested nose, chest and throat stuffiness, cough and cold, just rub it on your chest or throat or over your nose, and thats it! But apart from treating cough and cold there are some more cooler ways you can use Vicks VapoRub in your everyday life. Here are the 8 awesome things you can use it for:

1. As Insect Repellent

Just rub some product on your neck, inner knees, elbows, and behind your ears. It contains cedarleaf oil, which is a natural insect repellant. Simply rub on skin or clothes to repel insects.

2. To Dissolve Bruises

Mix a pinch of salt in Vicks VapoRub. Apply it on a fresh bruise. It will break up the bruise quickly.

3. To Treat Acne

I know this will sound crazy, but just give it a try and you will thank me for it. Vicks has several acne fighting ingredients such as camphor and eucalyptus oil that will dry out the acne overnight. All you have to do is put a little dab of Vicks directly on the pimple and leave overnight.

4. To Potty Train Your Pet

If your pet is not yet potty trained, and like to mark any part of your home as their territory, just put an open bottle of Vicks on the area from you want them to stay away. The smell will discourage them from lifting their legs and wetting your rug.

5. As Skin Moisturizer

Vicks VapoRub is an excellent moisturizer for dry skin. Rub it on your dry skin and feel the magic!

If your cat is into a habit of scratching every surface it lays its hands on, use Vicks VapoRub. Just rub on any surface you want to keep you cat away from, as cats hate the smell of menthol.

Vicks is great for getting instant relief from sore or overworked muscles by increasing the circulation in that area. Just apply a generous amount on the sore achy area and go to bed by covering the affected area.

8. On Minor cuts and Splinters

Rubbing a small amount of Vicks on any small paper cut or splinter will prevent infection and speed up healing time.

9. Tennis Elbow

Vicks VapoRub is a great solution to tennis elbow. Rub it and get rid of the pain. Menthol and camphor, present in it, will heal the aching elbow. Re-apply till the elbow stops aching.

10. For Cracked Heels

Pain from cracked heels is a nightmare especially if you are on your feet most of the time. Just apply a good amount of vicks on your feet, put on the socks and let it work overnight. In the morning wash your feet with warm water and repeat the steps until healed.

11. Fingernail or Toenail Fungus

just apply Vicks on the nail, if you have a nail fungus or you suspect that you will have it. Within few days the nail will turn dark blue-black, and this is a sign of Vicks killing the bacteria. The dark part of the nail will eventually grow out. It is advisable to keep using Vicks for a period of 2 weeks to keep the nail bed infection free.

12. Soothe Minor Burns

Vicks can also treat minor burns. Just runn cold water on the affected area and apply Vicks afterwards.

13. To Humidify Your Sleep

Use it in a humidifier (make sure your humidifier has an aromatherapy compartment) to circulate the smell throughout the air and keep you breathing easy all night long.

14. To Treat Bug bites

If you get bitten by a tick, apply Vicks immediately. The strong odor might help get the critter to release itself and stop bugging you.
