The Battle

Almost everybody knows about the iPhone 4S, the latest offering from Apple. The iPhone was regarded by many as the game changer in the market, as it took away the impetus from other cell phones and became the most popular phone in the world. Hence, it was with eager anticipation that many developers and consumers attended the press event held by Apple on the 4th of September 2011, when the iPhone 4S was unveiled. Many that had been expecting the iPhone 5 were left disappointed. On the other hand, HTC has one of the most diverse product portfolios, with a number of different phones. However, one of the most powerful devices released by HTC, the HTC One X has received critical acclaim and is one of the best phones in the market. So, how does it hold up against the iPhone 4S? Let’s find out.

The iPhone 4S

The iPhone 4S looks exactly the same as the iPhone 4, but the real changes aren’t on the inside. Instead, they are located beneath the hood. Firstly, the major change comes in terms of processing. The latest device from Apple makes use of an advanced version of the A5 processing chip, making it a highly fast phone. The second change comes in the improvements made in the camera, which has been increased from 5 MP to 8 MP, and offers stunning pictures. The low light performance has also been much improved, making it one of the most advanced camera phones right now. As is obvious, Apple commands a very large customer base, so the phone was regarded by many as a huge hit. Apart from that, Apple also announced the iOS 5.0 during that time, which made further improvements to its operating system.

The HTC One X

The HTC One X has a quad core processing chip; the nVidia Tegra 3. This alone takes the device on a higher level as compared to the iPhone in terms of performance. Apart from that, there is a 8 MP camera which offers full HD video recording and pictures. The screen is also larger, with 4.7” of real estate. However, it is a Super IPS LCD2 touch screen, while the iPhone’s Retina Display is way sharper and crisper. However, the larger size, the excessive power and the promise of Google’s latest operating system should be enough to set the HTC One X on a higher standing.
